Application of CPN Tools for Simulation and Analysis of Bandwidth Allocation

چکیده
We consider the problem of bandwidth allocation in a substrate network as an optimization problem for the aggregate utility of multiple applications with diverse requirements and describe a simulation scheme for dynamically adaptive bandwidth allocation protocols. The proposed simulation model based on Coloured Petri Nets (CPN) is realized using CPN Tools. Keywords—Bandwidth Allocation Problem, Coloured Petri Nets, CPN Tools, Simulation

Banker’s Algorithm Implementation in CPN Tools
When constructing discrete simulation models of complex transportation systems, their designers face problems of deadlock states occurring in the course of simulation. When analyzing it, the issue was transformed to a problem of solving deadlock states in resource allocation systems (RAS) with non-sequential processes with flexible routing and use of resources of multiple types at once. As a su...
متن کاملAnalysis of resource-constrained processes with Colored Petri Nets
Formal models of business processes support the performance analysis of processes and the evaluation of redesign alternatives. This paper presents a formal model to analyze the behavior of resource-constrained processes. The model is developed using Colored Petri Nets (CPN or CP nets) and the supporting software package CPN Tools. In our approach, a business process consists of tasks and resour...
متن کاملJointly power and bandwidth allocation for a heterogeneous satellite network
Due to lack of resources such as transmission power and bandwidth in satellite systems, resource allocation problem is a very important challenge. Nowadays, new heterogeneous network includes one or more satellites besides terrestrial infrastructure, so that it is considered that each satellite has multi-beam to increase capacity. This type of structure is suitable for a new generation of commu...
متن کاملJoint Allocation of Computational and Communication Resources to Improve Energy Efficiency in Cellular Networks
Mobile cloud computing (MCC) is a new technology that has been developed to overcome the restrictions of smart mobile devices (e.g. battery, processing power, storage capacity, etc.) to send a part of the program (with complex computing) to the cloud server (CS). In this paper, we study a multi-cell with multi-input and multi-output (MIMO) system in which the cell-interior users request service...
متن کاملA Coloured Petri Net Approach to Formalising and Analysing the Resource Reservation Protocol
The goal of the Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) is to support the provision of the Quality of Service required for emerging Internet applications (such as video conferencing) that require a level of performance not guaranteed by the Internet. RSVP attempts to provide performance guarantees by establishing resource reservations (such as the number of buffers and bandwidth allocation) within...
